Prerequisites

Scientists and teachers-researchers in the Life, Formal & Engineering Sciences fields, wishing to be more at ease and improve their public speaking skills in English at conferences, meetings, seminars, debates, etc.
The candidates must have B2 level or higher in English.



Goals

Acquire the language to express yourself confidently, fluently and efficiently in a professional presentation:
  • Express yourself when presenting in the social sciences or humanities domains;
  • Increase the impact of your presentations or interventions in meetings;
  • Focus your message, engage attention and captivate your audience;
  • Give a boost to professional events: meetings, seminars, conferences, conventions, etc.

Content

  • Identifying the impact you want;
  • Varying language, gestures and your voice;
  • Engaging and holding audience attention;
  • Structuring your presentation: introduction, objectives, summary and  conclusion;
  • Using signpost language in English;
  • Understanding and answering questions from the floor;
  • Understanding the importance of “body language”;
  • Adapting the message to the audience and to your own objectives;
  • Creating a poster for scientific or technical colloquiums;
  • Acquiring and understanding how to use language specific to your domain of research;
  • Upstream of the seminar, each participant is asked to prepare a presentation which will be worked on during the course.
