A new campaign to combat sexual and gender-based violence against students

On The November 9, 2021

In October 2021, the rollout of a national action plan against sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) took another step forward in the fight against SGBV in higher education and research. As part of this, the National Federation of Information Centers on Women’s and Families’ Rights (Fédération nationale des centers d'information sur les droits des femmes et des familles – FNCIDFF) is launching a prevention and awareness campaign for students.

Each year, 1 in 20 female students are victims of rape and 1 in 10 female students are victims of sexual assault. The new student SGBV prevention and awareness campaign launched by the FNCIDFF has two objectives:
  • To expose gender-based and sexual violence (sexual harassment, sexual assault, rape, cyber bullying) among students and staff in higher education and research institutions
  • To make students aware that they can get information and/or support free of charge from a CIDFF, wherever they are, in France or overseas.

This campaign has been rolled out on social media (hashtag #NeRestePasSeule – don't go it alone) and throughout higher education institutions by means of flyers and posters.
