Announcing the Student Initiative Fund winners from the Winter 2019 Session

The Université de Lyon’s Student Initiative Fund (FIE) Commission has voted to award grants to 20 projects led by student organizations.

Congratulations to the 20 winning projects listed below by project name, the student organizations leading the projects, the total grant awarded by the FIE and the aims of their initiative.


  • Inter-institutional Concert (AMI organization from the INSA Lyon, Music Club from CPE, Isarazik, ENS/ISARA), €1,000
    This concert will bring together student groups from the INSA Lyon, CPE Lyon, the ECAM and the Emlyon Business School to perform in a “professional” concert hall. Each of the musical groups from the two schools organizing the event and guest schools (this year, the ENS and ISARA) will present their successive performances on stage.
  • Young Film Festival of Lyon (LYF organization, Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3), €5,000
    This two-week festival held in Lyon aims to promote amateur and professional short films produced by young people. An opening ceremony and an awards ceremony will be held at the Comoedia.
  • Un Doua de Jazz Festival (Doua de Jazz organization, INSA Lyon), €1,000
    This festival is being held to present Jazz music to students and the inhabitants of Villeurbanne. The organizers are inviting young bands from Lyon to encourage them and give them more experience performing on stage. Le Tremplin, which is open to local bands, will give the winners an opportunity to open for other bands’ concerts and record their compositions.
  • “The Italian Straw Hat” (Lyon 3 Theater Company, Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3), €600
    This show is being put on by an eclectic university theater company in order to promote students’ access to dramatic art. This year, the Lyon 3 theater company is putting on “The Italian Straw Hat” play by Eugène Labiche. This play includes 17 amateur actors and there will be six shows. The show on March 21 will be free, as it is funded by the Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3.
  • The Médiaphi 21 (Les médiations philosophiques organization, Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3), €440
    The Médiaphi is a participatory journal published three times per year, circulated in the city through the university libraries and public libraries. In the past year, most French Universities have subscribed to the journal.
  • PSTTE (Prends soin de toi et de ton environnement Take care of yourself and your environment) (GAELIS, Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1), €2,500
    During sustainable development week, the Lyon and Bourg university campuses are holding sporting events, cooking, well-being, DIY and composting workshops, and more, for students.
  • 2019 Game of Gones (That’s IAE and BDE INSA organizations), €2,700
    An eco-responsible sports competition for the students of the UdL’s member institutions. A wide variety of sporting events are on offer, which are accessible to most students: basketball, handball, volleyball, Mölkky, pétanque, etc.)
  • La Boucle Solidaire Race (GSE organization, Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3), €2,500
    The Boucle Solidaire race is a charity run being held for the first time this year in the Blandan park. It aims to raise funds to support the Handisport Lyon organization.
  • Cultivate your City Festival 3 (Urbacultures organization, Université Lumière Lyon 2), €1,50
    The third urban (agri)cultural festival is being held as part of the national “48 hours for urban agriculture” event. Organizing activities and workshops led by students and partners of the project.
  • TEDxENTPE (Human Bee Ing organization, ENTPE), €500
    ENTPE students organizing a day of TEDx conferences and workshops. This second event will cover the theme of plasticity, inviting about ten people of all backgrounds to speak.
  • AURA training weekend (GAELIS, Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and FASEE, Saint-Étienne), €5,000
    A training weekend for organizations, future organizations and student elected representatives from the local federations of Lyon, Saint-Étienne, Clermont-Ferrand and Grenoble.
Poli’Gones (Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3) will be granted €2,000 to organize four events:
  1. France-Maghreb relations colloquium, February 21-23 2019
    Three lectures about relations between France and the Maghreb region.
    This colloquium aims to host a structured, well-framed discussion about the influence of France in North Africa, French society and the societies of the Maghreb region.
  2. Great Debate for the European Elections April 29, 2019
    Organizing a debate between European election candidates for students to be able to talk to their future representatives and ask them questions in person. The event will be co-organized by organizations from the Sciences Po Lyon, the Emlyon business school, the Université Lumière Lyon 2 and the Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3.
  3. New Technologies Colloquium, March 6 and 7, 2019
    These two lectures will discuss the themes, issues and challenges posed by new technologies: the influence of Artificial Intelligence in the legal and medical fields, the issues surrounding personal data and the legal framework, etc.
  4. Insolence in the news, March 22, 2019
    A radio show similar to the “Grosses têtes” show, broadcast live on public radio, discussing headline issues. This is an inter-organization project led with the international La Pnyx newspaper and organizations from the Université Lumière Lyon 2 and Jean Moulin Lyon 3.


  • The Petit Chœur sings Misa a Buenos Aires (Petit Chœur organization, Université Jean Monnet), €800
    The Petit Chœur ensemble’s concerts aim to present its annual work on Martin Palmeri’s Misa a Buenos Aires.
  • 2019 BIM’SE Contest (BIM’SE organization, ENSASE), €1,500
    Organization of an inter-institutional contest surrounding the collaborative building works method, BIM at the architecture school of St-Étienne. Participation is open to students from the ENSASE, the Mines Saint-Étienne, the ENISE, the ESADSE, and the Université Jean Monnet who wish to promote 3D modeling technologies and collaborative work between students.
  • Bridge challenge (Bridge challenge organization, ENISE), €750
    The seventh bridge miniature model building contest using the same set of materials, with four prizes. Thirty teams of three or four students are expected to participate, from architecture and engineering schools, IUTs, BTS programs and foreign institutions.
  • Health in Saint-Étienne (ADEMS organization, Université Jean Monnet), €1,000
    A public health initiative targeting prevention for the population of Saint-Étienne (first aid, public health, sexual health) and awareness-raising (blood donation, disabilities).


  • Public speaking contest (Jurist’Jeunes organization, Lyon 3, Bourg campus), €4,000
    The public speaking contest rewards eloquence, and is open to students from the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, the Université Lumière Lyon 2 and the Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3. The contest will be held on March 7, 14 and 28, 2019 on several campuses and will close with a final evening, held at the Bourg-en-Bresse theater.
