March 19, 2020 - update

• Outgoing mobility: Exchange students abroad holding a valid French residence permit

Currently (19/03/2020), holders of a valid French residence permit will be able to return to France despite the closure of the EU's external borders (residence permits and long stay visas equivalent to residence permit - VLS-TS, validated in France and currently abroad).

However, they must be vigilant about the availability of air connections from one country to another and anticipate their return as much as possible if this is their intention so as not to be blocked in the event of an unfavorable situation.

• New applications for residence permits: suspension of the issuance of new visas until further notice

France has suspended the issuance of visas until further notice. This decision concerns all visa applications (short stay Schengen visas, long stay visas for France, visas for Overseas). It also applies to requests already submitted and to requests for which an appointment has already been made.

March 17, 2020 - update

Following the closure until further notice of foreign reception at the Rhône Prefecture, given the health context, the period of validity of residence permits that expire from March 16 will be extended by 3 months.

Long-stay visas, residence permits of any kind, provisional residence permits and receipts for applications for residence permits are among others concerned. This measure being applicable on the national territory, it is strongly advised against the foreigners carrying an expired title and profiting from this extension to travel and leave the French territory.

The appointments given are canceled and will be rescheduled at a later date. There is therefore no point in resuming an appointment.
