Around 200 people came together for the third information forum for students with disabilities

On The January 15, 2020

On the afternoon of Wednesday, January 15, the Académie de Lyon’s Board of Education and the Université de Lyon held an information forum for all high-school juniors and seniors with disabilities (PPS, PAP, PAI) to provide information on higher education and post-baccalaureate studies (universities, higher education institutions, or grandes écoles, BTS – advanced technician’s certificate, CPGE- Preparatory classes for the grandes écoles, etc.).

The Académie de Lyon and the Université de Lyon have been working together for several years to make university studies more accessible to students with disabilities and inform them of the steps they should plan for. This event, which began in 2018, is an opportunity to address them directly.

So, students and families met with secondary education professionals and organization representatives to discuss the different available academic paths, the Parcoursup scheme, and the available educational facilities. In addition to this practical information, three students came and spoke about their own experiences, providing concrete examples of possible academic paths. Participants said that this section was especially appreciated.

This year, a new format has been proposed as a follow-up to the plenary presentation. 5 themed stands (focusing on disability missions within universities and schools, scholarships/housing/social grants, career guidance/work-study programs and the BTS/CPGE) gave participants the opportunity to discuss with the thirty or so professionals involved in the event; these included the Université de Lyon’s member and associate institutions (the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, the Université Lumière Lyon 2, the Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3, the Université Jean Monnet, the ENS, the INSA, the CPE, the UCLy and the Crous de Lyon) and its partners (the Académie de Lyon, Cap Emploi and Akto).

This third event, hosted by the Université Lumière Lyon 2 at its premises in the Palais Hirsch, was a great partnership success. The Université de Lyon would like to thank all of the professionals involved in this event, which was launched by Mr. Bouhours, head of the inclusive school mission at the Ministry of National Education.
