Lyon students can volunteer for the late-night listening service!

From September 15, 2021 to October 18, 2021

Since 2020, the Université de Lyon has partnered with the Nightline organization and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region to offer a listening, support and information service for students experiencing psychological difficulties from the Lyon and Saint-Etienne institutions. The hotline is looking for new students to join its team of volunteers. Applications are open until October 18, 2021.

WHAT IS NIGHTLINE?

It is a listening service (via the phone or online chat) provided by students, for students. Volunteers are available to listen to and discuss any topic with those who wish to do so, anonymously, confidentially, and without direction or judgment from 9:00 PM to 2:30 AM.

Life as a student can be difficult, and perhaps you have already been affected by or experienced the pressures and stresses of being a student – especially this year, given the uncertainty and changes brought on by the health crisis.

By devoting a few hours a month to Nightline Lyon, you will get the chance to:

  • Provide support to students who are more likely to confide in someone they can relate to;
  • Take part in a rewarding experience that can help you improve your ability to actively listen, understand and manage sensitive situations;
  • Be part of a dedicated and dynamic team and participate in the social aspects of the organization.

If you are interested in listening or mental health in general, please volunteer for Nightline by filling out the application form before October 18, 2021.

Remember, volunteers must remain anonymous! We, therefore, kindly ask you not to discuss your application with your friends and family.
