Refurbishing the Quais Berthelot university site: the Lyon Cité Campus project comes to an end
On The June 22, 2022
Since 2014, the Quais Berthelot university site buildings have been undergoing a major renovation program in order to preserve this historic site in Lyon. This phase of the Lyon Cité Campus project, led by the Université de Lyon and involving the Lumière Lyon 2, Jean Moulin Lyon 3 universities and Sciences Po Lyon, has officially come to an end.
The project, which began in 2014 and continued through 2021, involved the renovation of almost all the buildings on the university site, with a particular focus on energy efficiency, as well as meeting all applicable safety and accessibility standards.
Not only were the equipment and materials environmentally friendly, but they were also designed to minimize the operating and maintenance costs of the buildings.
Refurbishing this historic site located at the heart of the 7th district of Lyon also required a great deal of collaboration with Lyon’s local urban planning authority and the Bâtiments de France organization, as many of the buildings and gardens are listed.
