The renovation and extension works at the ENS de Lyon’s Monod campus university restaurant have come to an end

On The February 22, 2021

The new Resto’ Crous at the ENS de Lyon’s Monod campus in Gerland was officially opened on February 22, 2021. This marks the end of the renovation and extension works that began back in 2017 as part of Operation Campus and the Partnership Contract with NEOLYS/Demathieu et Bard, and managed by the Université de Lyon. The operation-maintenance phase is scheduled to last until 2044.

One of the main objectives of this operation was to increase the restaurant's capacity. With a surface area of more than 2,700m² (30k sq. ft.), it now accommodates an average of 1,800 users per day, twice that of the previous restaurant, and can seat more than 700 people.

In addition to the traditional restaurant facilities, there is now a fast-food restaurant, a co-working area and a "brasserie" restaurant with sit-down service, all of which have been designed to meet the demands of a modern and contemporary environment.

Work on the new restaurant began back in May 2019. After a month of cleaning, setting up and a trial run involving the Crous staff, the new restaurant re-opened on Monday, February 22. The restaurant will initially be offering a take-out service, with plans to re-open the entire restaurant facilities as soon as possible.

This project would not have been possible without the generous support of the Région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, the Crous de Lyon, the ENS de Lyon, the ISARA and the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1.
