The Université de Lyon and the Crous de Lyon are once again PCAET co-signatories, and together with the other partners, pledge to work towards a carbon-neutral and climate-friendly area by 2050.

On Thursday, November 28, the President of the Métropole de Lyon unveiled the new Regional Climate Air and Energy Plan (PCAET) in the presence of all the partners involved in the project. This plan is designed to address the challenges facing the Métropole de Lyon’s ecological transition. This long-term strategy aims to transform the City of Lyon into a carbon-neutral and climate-friendly area by 2050. The new Regional Climate Air and Energy Plan was passed by a unanimous vote on December 16.

At present, a total of 145 signatories, including companies, organizations, intermediary players, local authorities and institutions, have committed to working alongside the Métropole de Lyon to achieve the new climate targets for 2030.

This new Regional Climate Air and Energy Plan has been co-developed with over 500 citizens and partners in a series of workshops.

The Métropole de Lyon’s Regional Climate Air and Energy Plan (PCAET), co-signed by the Université de Lyon and the Crous de Lyon, seeks to define a regional strategy for both 2030 and 2050 to reduce the impact of the region's economic activities in terms of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and atmospheric pollution, while providing the region with the means to prepare for the effects of ongoing and future climate changes.

In order to achieve this, the Métropole de Lyon and its partners have developed a transversal action plan for energy management and the development of local renewable energy sources that will reduce the region’s dependence on fossil fuels.
