Brain Awareness Week is returning to Lyon from March 12 to 26, 2022

From March 12, 2022 to March 26, 2022

Brain Awareness Week is organized each year in March by the French Neuroscience Society. This event is an opportunity for researchers, physicians and student volunteers to share developments in brain research laboratories with the general public, as well as to explain the importance of brain research, the challenges involved, and its impact on our society.

The 24th Brain Awareness Week will take place in Lyon with the theme: “You and your senses”. Sight, sound, smell, touch, pain... Every day, our brain is flooded with information transmitted by the different sensory channels. This information, along with the information stored in our memory, determines how we interpret the world around us.

But what are the mechanisms that ultimately determine what makes us who we are? Neurobiologists have been trying to answer this question for decades. From an experimental point of view, perception is studied at different levels that are referred to as “low level and high level”.

During this 24th Brain Awareness Week, researchers from the Lyon and Saint-Étienne sites will share their work with the general public.
