Pop’Sciences Forum: What inspires athletes

From November 13, 2019 to November 28, 2019

From November 13 to 28, 2019, the third edition of the Pop’Sciences Forum, entitled “What inspires athletes”, will adopt scientific approaches to study sport and physical activity, in order to better understand the bodies and minds of those involved. A wide range of kinds of meetings aimed at passionate sportsmen and women, professionals in the field or mere science enthusiasts!

Records are being broken, physical activity is becoming more and more popular, and improving ones athletic performance is becoming a recurrent theme in today’s society. So it makes sense that sport is being closely studied by scientists.

Researchers are just as interested in the physiological, biological or technological dimensions of physical activity as they are in the economic, geopolitical or sociological issues raised by sport. On the one hand, this research represents a strong source of technical innovation and the promise of new athletic achievements. On the other, the scientific literature provides the key to understanding this sporting phenomenon by analyzing its impact on ones behavior, and society in general.

The next Pop’Sciences Forum will be offering free events (except for the Climbing Exhibition) which are open to everyone, organized by the Université de Lyon in Saint-Étienne, Rillieux-la-Pape, Villeurbanne and Lyon.
