Light and surface engineering featured in the last SLEIGHT Science Event

From January 10, 2022 to January 14, 2022

Campus Manufacture - Université Jean Monnet Saint-Étienne

The MANUTECH-SLEIGHT Graduate School organized its seventh interdisciplinary week. The event took place from January 10 to 14 and focused on the theme of light-surface engineering.

This week of lectures, workshops and student sessions was an opportunity for students to meet internationally renowned researchers working in MANUTECH SLEIGHT’s research areas: optics, photonics, surface engineering, bioengineering, image and data sciences, material physics and mechanics.

Eight renowned French and international speakers were invited to present their research developments. Three workshops were also held for doctoral students and researchers to discuss the three main research areas of Manutech SLEIGHT.

The SATT PULSALYS, the Lyon and Saint-Étienne innovation incubator, hosted a session on innovation and entrepreneurship.

For this winter edition, students are at the heart of the program:

  • As creators, they put forward the idea of creating a Student Chapter of a learned society in optics to their fellow students.
  • As actors, they presented their work during the Pitch session for Master’s students, as part of the doctoral and postdoctoral sessions.

Awards for the best student presentations were presented on Friday, January 14. Manutech SLEIGHT labels were also be awarded to students for their involvement in the life of the Graduate School.
