They make the Université de Lyon: meet Christophe Barthelon

On The June 6, 2019

The Université de Lyon met with Christophe Barthelon, an alumnus of the 2018 September graduating class of the Digital Transformation University Diploma program.

Tell us about your journey before beginning the Digital Transformation University Diploma.

As an applied arts and advertising graduate, I have a wide range of professional experience as an entrepreneur in the composite street furniture sector, as a realtor, asset manager, sales manager, and even as an interior design and decoration consultant.

My last entrepreneurial experience was a website selling designer furniture. This gave me the incentive to further develop my digital knowledge. That is how I discovered the Digital Transformation University Diploma.

In practice, what did you gain from this program? What stood out the most for you?

This University Diploma enabled me to make use of the skills which I had previously acquired from my various professional experiences, as well as to build upon them. This training program helped me structure and organize my thinking to develop a digital project. It also made me appreciate that beyond the technical approach, human input is essential for the success of digital transformation projects.

Finally, completing the “Blockchain” project, in collaboration with two other students as part of the University Diploma, taught me that it was possible to bring a digital dimension to a project that I am totally unfamiliar with at the outset.

What are you doing now?

I am currently in the process of launching a business based on the interconnection of creative industries. Alongside this project, I am actively working in collaboration with the Digital Transformation University Diploma Student Organization to launch our first Digital Festival, which will take place on July 4 at the Université de Lyon.
