Beelys – Prototyping: the City of Lyon supports student entrepreneurs

On The August 19, 2019

As part of the partnership between the Fondation pour l'Université de Lyon, the Université de Lyon and the City of Lyon, a fund has been set up to enable seven student-entrepreneur projects to fund their prototyping process.

The City of Lyon has been in support of raising students’ awareness of the entrepreneurial spirit and entrepreneurship for many years.

It is also aware that entrepreneurship is a powerful lever for public intervention to ensure the renewal of the local economic dynamics and, thereby, increasing employment opportunities and improving the economic vitality in the area.

In order to support student entrepreneurs in the feasibility phase and with the first technical developments of their projects, and to facilitate the transition from conception to creation, the City of Lyon has experimentally established a prototyping support fund of €50,000.

In 2018, seven projects were selected as part of the Beelys PEPITE for a maximum amount of €10,000 per beneficiary, capped at 30% of eligible expenses related to the prototype production.
