The Foundation for the Université de Lyon is organizing the twelfth Economy Days (Jéco – Journées de l'économie) on November 3, 4 and 5, in collaboration with the ENS de Lyon. This year’s Economy Days will be in a mixed format, with lectures available both in person and online.

The Economy Days is entirely free of charge and open to all, subject to registration. It offers people from all walks of life the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the world around them by discussing a wide variety of current topics from an economic perspective. It is also an opportunity to learn more about economic and social phenomena through a national reference event.

This 14th edition will feature discussions and panel discussions based on the theme of “Turning Utopias into Opportunities”, and the keynote speakers for this year’s event are Romano Prodi, former President of the European Commission, and Daron Acemoglu, Professor of Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The three main seminars are:

  • “Is there a path to a more resilient world?”:November 3, at 11 AM.
  • “Rebuilding technological sovereignty”: November 4, at 6 PM.
  • “A look at the post-pandemic economy”: November 5, at 4 PM.

In addition, the event will be rounded out by the student Economy Days, designed promote discussions and exchanges between students and researchers. Around one hundred Master’s and PhD students studying economics in one of the fifteen partner universities and schools will have access to the seminars and a specialist training program, and all of the seminars will be broadcast live in the partner institutions.

People wishing to attend the seminars in person will have to wear a mask and provide a valid health pass.
