Lyon is set to host the WorldSkills international competition in 2023

On August 20 in Kazan (Russia), Lyon’s bid was selected to host the WorldSkills 2023 Competition. Every other year, this international competition celebrates the world’s top young professionals in over 50 technical, technological, artisanal and service professions. The City of Lyon and the Université de Lyon congratulate all the WorldSkills France teams who have applied.

The WorldSkills Competition is the largest skills competition in the world and is held every two years by the WorldSkills International organization. It provides an opportunity for young professionals under the age of 23 from 80 countries to take part in an international competition held in one location.

Lyon has been selected to host the 47th edition of this competition in 2023

In October 2018, France officially declared its candidacy to host the 2023 WorldSkills Competition, with the support of the President of France. Following a study led by the WorldSkills France supervisory board, Lyon was selected as the host city for the French application.

The Université de Lyon is committed to supporting the city in getting the players of higher education in Lyon involved in supporting the country and region’s application for this major international competition.

The host country for 2023 was selected by the WorldSkills member countries on August 20, 2019, in Kazan, Russia.Going up against Japan, France was selected, with the Lyon bid to host the WorldSkills competition.

This event will take place in September 2023 at Eurexpo, with the WorldSkills campus located at INSA Lyon, at the heart of the LyonTech-la Doua campus.
