Within the framework of the international strategy of the UdL, in line with the strategic development of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs as well as the Ministry of Higher Education and Research, the Université de Lyon wished to formalize its links with the Canadian University Dubai. A memorandum of understanding was signed on January 23, 2020 in Dubai by Dr. Karim Chelli, President of the Canadian University of Dubai and Khaled Bouabdallah, President of the Université de Lyon.

The ongoing academic and cultural cooperation between France and the United Arab Emirates encouraged the UdL to extend its international policy to the countries of the Middle East.

The mission, organized jointly with the Métropole de Lyon, in the presence of Alain Galliano, Vice-President for International Relations of the Métropole de Lyon and Jacques Comby, President of the Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3 and Vice-President of the International strategy of the Université de Lyon, highlights the harmony of relationships and the interconnection of networks in academic and entrepreneurial projects.

Higher education institutions members of the Université de Lyon and the Canadian University Dubai will therefore implement the memorandum of understanding in specific cooperation agreements.
