Call for applications for the 2020 "New Collaborations Programs" of the France Canada Research Fund

This scientific collaboration support program, financed by the France-Canada Research Fund (FCRF), aims to support developing new expert partnerships between France and Canada by promoting researcher mobility, particularly for young researchers, and students.

This program provides financing for new scientific projects jointly developed by French and Canadian teams that have never worked together before. Submitted proposals must be joint projects between a French institution (all universities, grandes écoles, and research organizations are eligible) and one of the 20 FCRF’s Canadian member universities.

2) Call for applications – "Mourou-Strickland 2020" mobility program

In 2018, the Embassy of France in Canada implemented a two-way mobility program for researchers between France and Canada. That same year, Donna Strickland (University of Waterloo, Canada) and Gérard Mourou (École polytechnique, CNRS – France) received the Nobel Prize in Physics, the highest scientific distinction. This prize was awarded jointly to them for their collaborative work on lasers, and more specifically on “frequency drift amplification”.

As the objective of the Embassy’s mobility program is to initiate scientific partnerships between French and Canadian teams, it seemed appropriate to refer, in its title, to these two prestigious researchers and their successful collaboration.

The Embassy of France in Canada thanks Professors Donna Strickland and Gérard Mourou for their patronage, and the Université de Lyon wishes all the laureates of this call for applications to follow their footsteps!
