Arqus European University: the University of Padua launches its “Support Talent in Research (ERC)” call for applications

Researchers from Arqus member institutions (the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, the Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3 and the Université Jean Monnet) have the opportunity to benefit from research support schemes provided by Arqus European partners.

The Arqus European University brings together the universities of Bergen, Granada, Graz, Leipzig, Lyon, Padua and Vilnius. The aim is to design, develop and implement an innovative inter-university cooperation model through various forms of exchanges and collaborations. At the Lyon Saint-Étienne site, the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, the Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3 and the Université Jean Monnet are all involved. As part of this initiative, researchers from the Université de Lyon institutions have the opportunity to benefit from the research support schemes provided by our Arqus partners.

The 2021 Supporting TAlent in ReSearch@University of Padua – STARS@UNIPD program is one of them.


THE PROGRAM 

The main objective of the 2021 STARS Grants program is to increase the University of Padua’s participation in international competitive calls for projects, particularly those organized by the European Research Council. The winners of the 2021 STARS GRANTS call for applications must submit an ERC application naming Padua as the host institution.

This call for projects will enable the University of Padua to provide financial support for individual research projects, without any predetermined priorities, for a period of two years. Candidates are invited to apply under one of the 27 scientific research areas that fall within the ERC’s three research areas: PE – Physical Sciences and Engineering, LS – Life Sciences, and SH – Social and Human Sciences The proposals will be evaluated only on the basis of scientific excellence.

 

TYPES OF APPLICATION

STARS Starting Grants (STARS-StG): for researchers on the verge of creating their own research team and/or starting their own independent research
STARS Consolidator Grants (STARS-CoG): for researchers who are already conducting research at the University of Padua and are looking to strengthen their research team and/or their own independent research
STARS Wild Card Grants (STARS-WiC): for researchers who submitted a project to the 2019 and 2020 ERC calls, named the University of Padua as their host institution, received a final grade of "A", but did not receive funding due to budgetary limitations.
