Experimental and Numerical Study of the impact of urban microclimates on ventilation and Indoor Air Quality
Urban microclimates, such as heat islands, are an important consideration when dealing with indoor environmental quality and building comfort. The outdoor environment significantly affects indoor parameters such as temperature, humidity, and pollutant penetration within the built environment. Heat islands increase the accumulation of pollutants, resulting in poor air quality. During heat waves, insufficient ventilation leads to an increased level of heat, relative humidity and, consequently, the perceived indoor temperature.
