Modelling protein structure evolution using approaches that combine topological data analysis and spectral geometry

Summary of the project:
This PhD project presents an innovative and interdisciplinary approach, combining cutting-edge mathematical tools (persistent topology, statistics, spectral geometry) with challenging theoretical biological questions. The research will contribute to improving our understanding of protein structures and advancing models of protein evolution, with direct applications in evolutionary biology.
Desired profile:
We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in mathematics, computer science, bioinformatics, or a related field, with a keen interest in interdisciplinary research and tackling complex scientific challenges.
Supervision:
The thesis will be conducted as part of the DeltaFold project, which brings together mathematicians, bioinformaticians and biologists to develop biomolecular topology and mathematical models in evolutionary biology.
