This PhD project aims to develop next-generation receptors for molecular recognition in aqueous environments. In contrast to current leading systems in the field (e.g., cucurbiturils and pillararenes), these receptors can be assembled under environmentally benign conditions, display dynamic behavior, and can be readily functionalized on demand. The proposed work will explore their construction from simple building blocks, investigate their interactions with guest (bio)molecules, and assess their potential in preliminary biotechnological applications.
