From January 24 to 28, 2023, the École urbaine de Lyon – Université de Lyon and its partners are organizing the fifth edition of the “À l’École de l’Anthropocène” (Anthropocene School) event, hosted for the second year at the Rize in Villeurbanne.

Come join us as we continue to explore the Anthropogenic Era, through a wide variety of presentations and activities for young and old alike. Anthropologist Tim Ingold will be the main speaker for this edition, focusing on the themes of vulnerability, care and relationships.

Keynote speaker: Tim Ingold, anthropologist and author

Tim Ingold is a distinguished professor of social anthropology at the University of Aberdeen. He has spent time working in the field with the Sami and Finnish people in Lapland. He has written about the environment, technology, and social organization in the circumpolar north, but also about animals in human society, as well as human ecology and evolutionary theory. His most recent work focuses on environmental perception and skilled practices. Tim Ingold is currently exploring the interface between anthropology, archeology, art and architecture. His latest books include:The Life of Lines (2015), Anthropology and/as Education (2018), Anthropology: Why it Matters (2018), Correspondences (2020) and Imagining For Real (2022). Tim Ingold is a member of the British Academy and the Royal Society of Edinburgh, and in 2022, he was appointed to the employment basin committee (CBE – Comité de Bassin D’emploi) for service to anthropology.
