Fourth edition of the École urbaine de Lyon’s “À l’École de l’anthropocène” festival

From January 24, 2022 to January 30, 2022

The fourth edition of the “À l'École de l'Anthropocène” (Anthropocene School) festival will be held from January 24 to 30 and will offer an open, sensitive, citizen-based program focusing on global change as part of “Villeurbanne 2022, the French Capital of Culture” event, and will be hosted in one of its iconic venues: Le Rize.

Since its very first edition back in 2019, “À l’École de l’anthropocène” week, organized by the École urbaine de LyonUniversité de Lyon, has been successfully experimenting with creating an innovative space for knowledge sharing and public discussions on issues related to the "Anthropocenic Era", a term that is increasingly used outside academic circles.

This innovative, international approach, which is the only one of its kind in France, consists of creating a school by combining scientific, cultural and civic approaches in a wide range of formats. The three previous editions of the event were a great success and were well attended by people from all walks of life.

In light of the subjects it explores, which are crucial to the fate of future generations, and of the large proportion of its program dedicated to young people (in particular through the participation of the Youth for Climate collective), the fourth edition naturally falls within the scope of the “Villeurbanne 2022, French Capital of Culture” initiative, and is fortunate enough to take place in one of the city's most vibrant and iconic venues, Le Rize.

Over a hundred participants from a wide range of backgrounds, including leading thinkers and players involved in the ongoing change (researchers, professors, students, artists, writers, practitioners and activists), invite you to explore the possibilities surrounding the global upheaval that is taking place.
