A successful 2022 Research Ethics Committee Congress at the Université de Lyon

On The December 2, 2022

The Université de Lyon – via the CER-UdL (UdL Research Ethics Committee) – hosted the Congress of Research Ethics Committees on December 2, 2022 in Lyon. This one-day event brought together the institutional Research Ethics Committees (RECs) from all over France, in order to discuss “Reviewing human research ethics: laws and practices”.

The aim of the event was to bring together various players in research from all university departments, and to assess the existence and functioning of the various committees in the years since the Federation was created in 2018. Plenary sessions were held in the morning to address legal and regulatory issues, through interactions between participants. The afternoon consisted of interactive workshops with the aim of building consensus on one or more solutions to current challenges.

The CER 2022 Congress at the Université de Lyon marked the entry of the CER-UdL into the French Federation of Research Ethics Committees.
The event was a success, bringing together over 60 doctoral students, research professors, administrative staff and ethics advisors from all over France. And the hybrid format opened up the day to as many people as possible.

The participants appreciated the high quality of the proposed discussions and reflections.
