Summary of IDEXLYON’s support to colloquiums and thematic schools

On The April 17, 2019

In March 2018, the IDEXLYON launched two support campaigns (one for colloquiums, and the other for thematic schools) in order to promote the spread of scientific knowledge and to grow the international reputation of the Lyon Saint-Étienne site. One year later, it is time to take stock of the progress that has been made.

As of March 2019, 67 requests for funding for colloquiums or thematic schools have been received, with a refusal rate of 18%. On average, the products were co-funded up to 78% of the amount requested, for a total budget of €432,634.

Approximately 13,500 people, including nearly 60% from abroad, have attended or are expected to attend at least one of the events funded by the IDEXLYON. These figures highlight the international scope of the program.

The supported projects include 42 colloquiums and 15 themed schools. Each of these comes under one of the three major academic themes of the Université de Lyon (see the breakdown below).

Colloquiums:

  • 14 for Humanities and Urbanity;
  • 20 for Science and Engineering;
  • 8 for Biohealth and Society.

Themed Schools:

  • 4 for Humanities and Urbanity;
  • 10 for Science and Engineering;
  • 1 for Biohealth and Society.
