Following the success of the 2020 Anthropocene back-to-school event, the École urbaine de Lyon is organizing the event again in 2021, in collaboration with higher education institutions of Lyon and Saint-Étienne. This year’s event will be held from October 1 to 11 and will focus on the theme of “Ecosystems & Biodiversity”.

Organized as part of the Science Fair, which will take place from October 1 to 11, 2021, the 2021 edition will focus on the theme of “Ecosystems & Biodiversity”, and will look at the challenges associated current global changes, from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic to the issues surrounding agro-industrial production.

This edition’s special guest is Catherine Jeandel, geochemical oceanologist and head of research at the CNRS (Laboratoire d’études en géophysique et océanographie spatiales – Laboratory of geophysical and oceanographic space studies). She will give two lectures for this event, one in Saint-Étienne and the other in Lyon. Find out more about Catherine Jeandel’s lectures (FR)

Lectures, exhibitions, workshops and the start of doctoral training programs: the events reflect a renewed desire to engage a wider audience, both from the academic world and civil society.

There are also multidisciplinary digital resources available to professors who are interested in tackling the issues of the Anthropogenic Era, and to help them prepare a course to raise awareness among their students as part of this special week.
