The Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) holds a third meeting

On The May 31, 2018

On May 24 and 25, the SAB met for the second time at the Université de Lyon.

The meeting began with a presentation of the IDEXLYON project progress report delivered by project director, Jean-François Pinton.

During its third meeting, the SAB interviewed representatives of the 15 applications for the Scientific Breakthrough Program (SBP) call for projects. These projects had first been shortlisted by the Academic Group.

Based on reviews of the submitted applications, which were supported by external expertise, and on the interviews, the SAB put forward a list of six projects to be selected for the SBP. This list was approved by the IDEXLYON Executive Committee (EXCOM) on May 29, 2018.

More generally, the SAB praised the very high quality of the proposed projects and encouraged IDEXLYON and the institutions involved to support the development of four additional projects over one year.

The SAB then gave its opinion on applications for the IDEXLYON Fellowships call for projects. The SAB was impressed by the high standard of applications submitted in a wide range of scientific fields, and highlighted the success of the scheme with regard to the site's attractiveness.

A session was then dedicated to analyzing the general trajectory of the IDEXLYON project and several recommendations were made for the future. The meeting ended with a discussion between members of the SAB and members of the EXCOM and Academic Group.

The next SAB meeting will take place in the autumn of 2018.
