Launch of the “IRICE” NMR platform for companies

The ultra-high-field Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) center in Lyon, a research unit supported by the CNRS, the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon (ENS de Lyon), is launching an NMR platform specifically for companies. The NMR platform is part of a large group of platforms supported by the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region: the Company-focused research and innovation facilities (Installations de recherche et d'innovation centrées entreprises – IRICE).

Ultra-high-field Nuclear Magnetic Resonance has proven its atomic analytical power in the fields of chemistry, materials science, biology and health. It delves into the 3D structure of matter, follows the steps of a chemical reaction, explains the composition of a complex mixture, and identifies the interactions between drugs and their targets.

The CRMN has state-of-the-art Nuclear Magnetic Resonance equipment and world-class expertise, and is now fully accessible to companies thanks to the IRICE platform. The center welcomes any challenges proposed by companies. Specific and tailor-made procedures will be implemented to perform high added value analyses on issues that are currently limiting the industrial world’s capacity for innovation and economic development. The center’s expertise is internationally renowned, recognized for its ability to initiate and solve large-scale issues within the scientific community. In addition to meeting companies’ needs, these types of collaborations are likely to stimulate scientists and fuel fundamental research.

This platform was set up as part of a response to the IRICE call for projects. The CRMN has received 3.84 million euros in funding from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the CNRS and its partners. This significant financial support has enabled the center to undergo a major upgrade and purchase the most up-to-date equipment (e.g. consoles and probes).
