On The January 1, 2021

The Saint-Étienne National School of Engineering (ENISE – École nationale d'ingénieurs de Saint-Étienne) will be integrated into the École Centrale de Lyon as an in-house school as of January 1, 2021.

At the end of 2013, the French Ministry for Higher Education, Research and Innovation (Ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur, de la Recherche et de l’Innovation – MESRI) announced that it would like the ENISE to begin its future development based on a strengthened partnership with another higher education institution at the Lyon Saint-Étienne university site.
The École Centrale de Lyon and the ENISE, which have been working together on research activities for over 25 years, have decided to join forces and strengthen their partnership. After working together for two years to build a collaborative project based on their shared ambition for higher education and research, the two institutions became partners in 2016. The École Centrale de Lyon’s rights have been extended by Decree (in the official gazette of February 25, 2016), giving it the freedom to include in-house schools, a possibility that was previously only available to universities.
As of January 1, 2021,the two schools will become a single institution, making the two Lyon Saint-Étienne site entities one of the largest engineering institutions in France.
