The Innovation Factory’s online open house

On The November 5, 2020

The Innovation Factory is a Université de Lyon program that encourages students to use their talent and creativity to innovate in new ways. Its services are aimed at project leaders from the academic and socio-economic world. On November 5, it made its online opening to present its training facilities and services to research professors from the Université de Lyon institutions.

Providing access to creation and prototyping facilities

The Innovation Factory is located on the LyonTech La Doua Campus and the Manufacture Campus in Saint-Étienne. Each of these sites includes a modular creativity room and a Fablab that are open to everyone. These facilities can also be used by the Université de Lyon’s research professors, in order to offer their students the opportunity to work differently on collaborative projects in the fields of innovation, creativity, design and entrepreneurship.

All-inclusive formats for students

The Innovation Factory provides creative formats for students to develop new skills and learn how to work on a business project as part of a team:

  • Multidisciplinary challenges: these challenges last from one to three days, and bring together students from several disciplines, to provide companies with an innovative perspective on a problem they are facing.
  • Multidisciplinary team projects: these are more long-term (three to six months), specific projects that include idea generation, modeling and prototyping, giving companies the opportunity to collaborate with research professors and students from several disciplines to develop an innovative project.

Learn more about creativity methods

The Innovation Factory also helps research professors to improve their skills in the use of creativity methods. To this end, it will be launching a course starting in January 2021 that is specifically designed for research professors. It will include hands-on workshops to learn more about creativity tools (brainstorming, idea generation, etc.), as well as creativity and innovation events based on their own expertise. Program and registration details coming soon.

A new open house (on-site or online) will also be held in February 2021.
