The Université de Lyon and its ARQUS consortium partners have been selected as part of the call for “European Universities” projects

On Wednesday, June 26, 2019, the ARQUS European University Alliance project was selected as part of the European Commission’s call for “European Universities” pilot projects launched in October 2018. This alliance is made up of nine associates, including three member institutions of the Université de Lyon, and will help establish better European cooperation over the next three years.

On Wednesday, June 26, 2019, the European Commission announced the results of the call for “European Universities” pilot projects. The ARQUS European University Alliance project, formalized in November 2018, has been selected to receive funding of up to 5 million Euros for Europe.

The aim is to promote universities as places of personal and professional development for everyone, promoting a wider access and inclusive policies for new student, academic and professional communities. In keeping with the objectives of the European Union and its Erasmus+ program, special attention will be paid to promoting multilingualism and sustainable development.

ARQUS brings together nine research universities with strong regional involvement in medium-sized cities: Granada (Spain, the consortium’s coordinating institution); Bergen (Norway); Graz (Austria); Leipzig (Germany); Ly n (the Claude Bernard Lyon 1, Jean Moulin Lyon 3 and Jean Monnet Saint-Étienne universities, all of which are member institutions of the Université de Lyon); Padoue (Italy); and Vilnius (Lithuania).
