The Université de Lyon institutions have made their mark in the THE Impact 2022 ranking
On The May 10, 2022
Twenty-two French institutions are listed in the “THE Impact Ranking”, published on April 27, 2022 by the British Times Higher Education magazine. Among them were four member or associated institutions of the Université de Lyon.
The Times Higher Education Impact Ranking is the only global performance indicator that rates universities against the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These indicators are categorized to provide a comprehensive comparison in four main areas: research, outreach, stewardship and teaching. Each UN goal also has its own sub-classification.
The fourth edition of THE Impact 2022 includes 1,406 universities from 106 countries/regions. The list includes 22 French institutions, four of which were from the Université de Lyon:
- École Centrale de Lyon | listed in 15 of the SDG rankings;
- Mines Saint-Étienne | listed in 12 of the SDG rankings;
- emlyon business school | listed in 4 of the SDG rankings;
- INSA Lyon | listed in 7 of the SDG rankings
With these four nominations, the Université de Lyon represents more than 18% of French institutions ranked in THE Impact 2022.
The strong presence of engineering schools highlights one of the academic strengths of the Lyon and Saint-Étienne sites, a strength that has already been reflected in other rankings this year.
