International students: all you need to know about residence permits

The particular health situation and the future development of certain procedures are modifying the conditions for receiving and renewing residence permits.

RENEWAL OF RESIDENCE PERMITS

  • For renewing a student residence permit: a new remote application procedure will be put in place from mid-September. No file will have to be physically submitted to the Préfecture or to the Université of Lyon.

  • For a first request or renewal of another residence permit: the procedures will be done by appointment via the Préfecture du Rhône website.

  • For first Algerian requests: formalities with the Préfecture EXCLUSIVELY: www.rhone.gouv.fr
  • You have just arrived in France with a long-stay visa equivalent to a "Student" residence permit: Within 3 months of your arrival in France, you must validate your Long-stay visa equivalent to a residence permit (VLS-TS). The process is completely dematerialized on the dedicated site:

  • Doctoral students in possession of a "Talent Passport - researcher" visa or residence permit continue to be supported exclusively by Espace Ulys:

STUDENTS WELCOME DESK: REMOTELY ACCOMPANYING STUDENTS

This year, the Students Welcome Desk team will support students in their re-entry process through a dedicated telephone line. They will be advised remotely in their administrative procedures, their residence permit applications, and will be able to ask all their questions regarding student life (health, housing, job, sport, tourism, etc.).
