Multi-Physics Modeling of a Thermo-Mechanically Reinforced Bio-Based Wall Element: Integration of Phase Change Materials and Mineral-Based Composites.

The building sector is one of the most energy-intensive industries in France and is thus regarded as the largest potential source for energy savings and greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction. In the broader context of climate change, the use of bio-based insulating materials (such as hemp, sunflower, etc.) is gaining significant interest. These materials offer excellent thermal properties while drastically reducing fossil fuel consumption and the GHG emissions associated with their production. Furthermore, due to their permeable nature, these materials provide an effective means for insulating and rehabilitating existing buildings, especially older structures built with non-industrial materials, whose stability requires maintaining moisture exchange with the external environment.
