Documentation and libraries

As a large university center, the Université de Lyon has a large repository of documents with numerous university libraries (BU), inter-institutional libraries, and subject-specific resource centers open to its users (the institutions’ students, professors and staff), associations and the general public..

These facilities successfully assist in and support teaching and research activities, and offer numerous training programs in information literacy and documentary tools. Numerous remotely-accessible digital resources, as well as a rich and diverse cultural program are also available.

Extended opening times have been introduced at ten on-site libraries as part of the « Open Libraries + » project . Improving access to university libraries contributes to the quality of student life and is a key factor for success. It also promotes equal opportunities and the practice of active teaching methods.

Under the European program Horizon 2020, the Université de Lyon is reaffirming its commitment to promoting the availability of open access publications thanks to its HAL portal. The university’s open access policy also involves awareness-raising efforts and training for doctoral candidates, researchers and all those responsible for disseminating knowledge.
