Every year at the start of the academic year, the Université de Lyon sets up its Students Welcome Desk to greet international students and help with their their back-to-school procedures. The 2024 edition closes on December 13, 2024!

In December 2024, Pop’Sciences is publishing the next issue of its magazine, entitled “Health, a holistic vision” (“Santés, une vision globale”), exploring the links between human and animal health, and the environment. To mark this occasion, a meeting-discussion will take place on December 4, 2024, in partnership with the Part-Dieu Municipal Library.

Espace Ulys, the EURAXESS center of the Université de Lyon, invites international scientists who have recently arrived at the Lyon Saint-Étienne academic site to discover the academic panorama and local integration schemes, on December 3, 2024.

The Global Ranking of International Subjects (by Shanghai Ranking) was published on November 11. 83 French institutions were listed in the 2024 edition, including 8 Université de Lyon member institutions.

For this second edition of the Youth Assembly, the City of Lyon is looking for 40 young people aged between 16 and 25 years old to work with it on tangible projects for young people.

All PhD students and recent graduates of the Université de Lyon are invited to take part in the 2025 edition of the "My Thesis in 180 Seconds" competition. Applications are open until February 20, 2024.

The Collegium de Lyon, the Université de Lyon’s Institute for Advanced Studies (IAS), introduced its 2024-2025 research fellows on Monday, November 4 in the main lecture hall of the MILC (Maison internationale des langues et des cultures). On this occasion, the resident researchers for the academic year presented their research themes.

After thirteen years of scientific activity, the member laboratories and companies of LabEx MANUTECH-SISE on the Lyon Saint-Étienne site are keen to share the fruits of their labor with the French academic and industrial community working in surface science and engineering.

Organized by the Centre Jacques Cartier (CJC), each year, the Entretiens Jacques Cartier (EJC) [Jacques Cartier Meetings] bring together the main players and stakeholders from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, Quebec and Canada’s French-speaking communities. The 2024 edition was held from October 16-18, 2024 in Montreal, Sherbrooke, Quebec City and Ottawa.

As they do each year, the Métropole de Lyon and the City of Lyon have partnered with the Université de Lyon to award the Young Researcher Prize. For this 2024 edition, four winning projects were selected from around forty entries. The young researchers were awarded their prizes at a ceremony that took place on October 8, 2024 at Lyon City Hall, at the same time as the official launch of the 2024 edition of the Science Fair.

Every year, throughout France, the Science Fair invites the general public to have fun with science, to discover new technologies and the latest developments. The scientific community has come together to offer a range of activities, exhibitions, lectures, tours, and much more.

The Global Innovation Index, published each year by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), ranks countries and economies throughout the world. In this 2024 edition, the Lyon region has been ranked 92nd.

On January 22, 2024, the Black Box, the CNSMD de Lyon’s new rehearsal space, funded as part of the French Recovery Plan (Plan France Relance), opened its doors.
