On The June 1, 2023

As in 2022, the Times Higher Education Impact 2023 Ranking includes 22 French institutions. Among them were four member or associate institutions of the Université de Lyon.

The Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ranking is the only global performance indicator that rates universities against the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These indicators are selected to provide a comprehensive comparison in four main areas: research, outreach, stewardship and teaching. Click here to see the SDGs in detail

To be included in the overall ranking, institutions must provide data for SDG #17 – partnerships for the goals – as well as three other goals. This means that four SDGs are required to be ranked in the world rankings.

This fifth edition of the THE Impact Rankings includes 1,591 ranked universities, compared with 1,406 in 2022. There are 22 French institutions listed in the 2023 rankings, including four from the Université de Lyon , the same number as in 2022 rankings.
