The Université de Lyon's telepresence robots
The Université de Lyon's telepresence robots enable users, students and staff from the campuses in Lyon and Saint-Étienne to participate in on-site lessons and activities without physically being there.
Each telepresence robot is fitted with a videoconference system (speakers and a microphone) that can be controlled remotely by the user. The robots are also mounted on wheels so they can move around lecture theaters, corridors or anywhere on campus.
These telepresence robots, which have been trialed for three years in the Université de Lyon's universities and higher education institutes, are now provided for free for as many students as possible thanks to funding from the French Ministry of National Education, Higher Education and Research and the Région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
