[PUBLIC EVENT] The new MMI exhibition brings math and computer science to the table
From September 30, 2023 to June 29, 2024
The House of Mathematics and Computer Science (MMI, Maison des Mathématiques et de l'Informatique), a LabEx MILYON project supported by the Université de Lyon, invites you to discover its new exhibition, “Dans ma cuisine” (“In my kitchen”), from September 30, 2023 to June 29, 2024.
Have fun discovering mathematics and computer science
This fun, tasty, interactive exhibition will get young visitors thinking about math and IT in everyday situations. They will also discover the similarities between these two disciplines and cooking. One example you might be familiar with: King cakes and probabilities!
Yum yum: an exhibition divided into four areas
Featuring a wide range of physical and digital activities, the exhibition can be enjoyed in a variety of ways and offers visitors the opportunity to wander through four distinct areas:
- The “Preparation” area: with the concepts of algorithms, databases and scheduling;
- The “cooking” area: with scientific themes focusing on mixing, heat, optimal stacking, and computer espionage (spyware);
- The “Sharing” area: to learn about strategies, probabilities, frequencies, and the topology theorem;
- The “Discussion” area: to read and watch videos of researchers talking about how cooking, mathematics and computer science interact in their own lives.
