[RETROSPECTIVE] A site visit to discover the future I-Factory building
On The April 9, 2024
On April 9, 80 people attended the first site visit to the I-Factory, the Université de Lyon’s future beacon for innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship on the LyonTech-la Doua campus.
Innovation at the heart of the LyonTech-la Doua campus
With one year to go before the building is completed, the future residents of the I-Factory and the project’s financial backers were given a sneak peek behind the scenes of the 6,500m² building.
The tour, hosted jointly by the Innovation Factory and the architectural firm behind the project, Z Architecture, gave visitors the opportunity to discover the four floors that have now been built, as well as the undivided spaces on each floor. During the tour, Stéphane Gavarini, director of the Innovation Factory, and Mariétou Diagne, deputy project manager, presented the uses of each of the spaces (co-working, creative spaces, fablab, hall, tiered space, etc.) to give future resident partners a better idea of the spaces they will occupy at the beginning of the 2025 academic year.
The I-Factory, an ecosystem of innovators
The I-Factory is the result of a collaboration between a number of key partners who occupy this innovative space and help to run it. The resident structures offer a continuum of services from the generation of new ideas to the development of innovations, including all the stages inherent in the innovation and entrepreneurial process.Innovation has been proposed as a key area of activity for the Université de Lyon (...). This building is very much in line with this approach and represents another milestone in the development of the region’s excellence in innovation, be it medical, engineering, social or public.
Frank Debouck, President of the Université de Lyon
