[RETROSPECTIVE] Several UdL institutions take part in the 3rd France-USP Week
From September 16, 2024 to September 20, 2024
The third “France-USP Week for Scientific Cooperation” took place from September 16-20, 2024 at the University of São Paulo. The event celebrated the partnerships between the Brazilian university and French higher education and research institutions, including several Université de Lyon institutions.
As a longstanding and trusted partner of the University of São Paulo, the Université de Lyon was present at the “France-USP Week for Scientific Cooperation”, represented by a delegation from three member institutions: Université Lumière Lyon 2, Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3 and Université Jean Monnet Saint-Étienne. The third edition of this event, held from September 16-20, 2024, is the result of a partnership between the Consulate General of France in São Paulo and the University of São Paulo.
The week was an opportunity to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the PITES program - International Triangular Partnerships in Higher Education. Launched in 2014, the PITES program led to the creation of a law degree taught in São Paulo by research professors from the Lyon site. This course, taught over three years, enables Brazilian students to obtain a double diploma in French and Brazilian law. A graduation ceremony took place during this event.

For Gilles Bonnet, President of Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3 and representative of the ComUE during this week,The partnership between Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3 and the University of São Paulo is a resounding success: lively, dynamic and fraternal. [...] It has made it possible to bridge gaps thanks to the pathways offered by the knowledge economy, embodying fully and beyond borders what the university community means.
Another highlight was the “Worlds in Transition” (Mondes en transition) symposium, organized by the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) and USP, which launched the IRL (International Research Laboratory) of the same name between the CNRS and the University of São Paulo in social sciences and humanities.
