As a stakeholder in the academic world of the Région Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, the Université de Lyon places a strong emphasis on innovation and transferring its findings to industry through its technology transfer acceleration company 'PULSALYS'.

On December 15, 2015, the Université de Lyon's governing board adopted a common signature for all scientific publications by the Université de Lyon's member institutions. "Univ Lyon" will be the first institution listed, followed by the other supervisory higher education institutions and/or research organizations.

The ultra-high-field Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) center in Lyon, a research unit supported by the CNRS, the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon (ENS de Lyon), is launching an NMR platform specifically for companies. The NMR platform is part of a large group of platforms supported by the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region: the Company-focused research and innovation facilities (Installations de recherche et d'innovation centrées entreprises – IRICE).
