[AWARD] Six researchers from the Université de Lyon receive a medal from the CNRS

Each year, the CNRS presents various awards to those who have made the greatest contribution to its influence and to the advancement of research. The winners will be awarded their medals at an official ceremony at the end of 2025.

CNRS medals are awarded yearly to researchers and staff members who make outstanding contributions to the dynamic development and excellent reputation of the institution.

  • The silver medal is awarded to researchers who are already recognized on the national and international stage.
  • The bronze medal recognizes the work of promising researchers in their field.


Six researchers from the Lyon Saint-Étienne site’s institutions were awarded these prizes in 2024:

Silver medal winners:

  • Cécile Cottin-Bizonne, Director of the Institut Lumière Matière (ILM, CRNS/Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1)
  • Gwyneth Ingram, Director of Research and Director of the Plant Reproduction and Development Laboratory (RDP, CRNS/ENS de Lyon/Inrae)

Bronze medal winners:

  • Stéphanie Durand, Research Fellow in Seismology at the Laboratory of Geology of Lyon, Earth, Planets, Environment (LGL TPE, CNRS/ENS de Lyon/Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1)
  • Antoine Coutrot, Research Fellow at the Laboratory of Computer Science in Imaging and Information Systems (LIRIS, CNRS/INSA Lyon/Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1)
  • Benjamin Wesolowski, Research Fellow at the Pure and Applied Mathematics Unit (UMPA, CNRS/ENS de Lyon)
  • Laure Segurel, Research Fellow at the Laboratory of Biometrics and Evolutionary Biology (LBBE, CNRS/Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1/VetAgro Sup)
