[AWARD] The Lyon Saint-Étienne university site has 20 new IUF members

The Université de Lyon congratulates the 20 research professors from the Lyon Saint-Étienne university site who have been appointed members of the Institut Universitaire de France (University Institute of France – IUF) by order of the Minister of Higher Education and Research dated June 05, 2025.

The 2025 campaign of the IUF

The IUF promotes the development of high-level research in universities and strengthens cross-disciplinary cooperation, with the aim of:

  1. Encouraging institutions and research professors to strive for excellence in research, with the positive impact this can have on teaching, the training of young researchers and, in more general terms, the sharing of knowledge,
  2. Contributing to the increasing representation of women in the research sector,
  3. Contributing to a balanced distribution of university research throughout the country, and a policy of scientific networking throughout France.

Each year, the IUF awards this prize to several research professors who are awarded with exceptional promotion of their research and a two-thirds reduction in their teaching duties. 200 new members were appointed this year, by Decree dated June 05, 2025. Members are appointed from 2025 to 2030. 174 members are appointed under the fundamental category (94 juniors and 80 seniors), 16 under the innovation category (1 junior and 15 seniors) and ten under the scientific engagement category (5 juniors and 5 seniors).

Twenty of the 2025 members are from the Lyon Saint-Étienne site, including 10 junior members and 10 senior members.
