The Université de Lyon is an academic community (ComUE – Communauté d’universités et établissements) gathering 11 member and 24 associated institutions in Lyon and Saint-Étienne. It carries the territorial coordination of the Lyon-Saint-Étienne academic site. Download the 2021 annual report (FR)

The Université de Lyon aims to:

Support the strategies of its member and associated institutions

by ensuring the coordination and consistency of the site's projects;

153,000 students by the start of the 2020-2021 academic year
4,700 doctoral students

Coordinate and conduct structuring projects on behalf of those institutions

on topics of common interest such as research, innovation and entrepreneurship, science and society, student reception and student life, etc.;

in conjunction with all local stakeholders (citizens, associations, guardianships, socio-economic world, local authorities)

  128 startups launched by the SATT PULSALYS as of December 31, 2022
  270,000 sq.m. refurbished and 6 institutions supported in their estate renovation, as part of the Campus Plan
  14 institutions within 4 geographical areas as privileged partners (International Alliance of the Université de Lyon)
