[ACADEMIC EVENT] 14th Science Week for the Manutech-SLEIGHT Graduate School of Research

From June 30, 2025 to July 2, 2025

The 14th Science Week for the Manutech-SLEIGHT Graduate School of Research will take place from June 30 to July 2, 2025 at Université Jean Monnet’s Manufacture Campus.

This new summer edition of the SLEIGHT Science Event #14 focuses on the topic of “Metallic Surfaces: Texturing, Functionalization, Appearance”.


A science week in two parts:


The program includes:

  • Five themed workshops with 15 speakers covering the following areas: “Optical and visual properties of usual metallic surfaces”, “Metal coloration by photonic processes”, “Metallic micro-nanostructures”, “Optical characterization of metallic objects in the field of cultural heritage” and “Metallic appearance”
  • Discussions and networking opportunities
  • Visits to the MANUTECH USD consortium platforms
  • A social event organized at the Comédie de Saint-Étienne theater
  • A careers conference, testimonials from former PhD students, screening of videos produced by the best poster presenters, and an award ceremony for the best posters

The OPTICA & SPIE Student Chapters, led by the ASESLEIGHT Student Association will host an activity during the SIS Doctoral School Posters Session on the afternoon of July 2.

This event is open to graduate students, faculty members and industry professionals.


SSE#14 is funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR) as part of the France 2030 Plan, Université Jean Monnet and Saint-Étienne Métropole.
